POPA was invited to attend the presentation of SYRIZA’s sports programme, held on Monday, 19 January 2014, at Egaleo Town Hall.

POPA was represented by President Athanasios D. Villiotis, Organisational Secretary Giorgos Arachovitis, Treasurer Filippos Oikonomou, Board member Konstantinos Grekas and Legal Adviser Giorgos Printezis.

In a brief contribution, the POPA President stressed the need to include and give due emphasis to the following in the programme:

1. A fundamental improvement in the way coaches are educated and trained.
2. The establishment or designation of a body responsible for educating coaches.
3. Coaches’ participation in decision-making processes in sport.
4. Continuous professional development, so that coaches remain up to date with the latest advances in their field and provide high-quality training to help Greek athletes achieve high-level competitive performance.
5. Coaching knowledge based on scientific research by Greek sports scientists at sports research institutions, such as EKAET, provided for by the existing sports law, or any other institution that may be established.
